Last night was the last show of the season for local improv group "General Fools." They did a murder mystery as their finale and it was fantastic. We stayed for both the 8:00 and the 10:00 shows because the beauty of improv is that they never do the same thing twice. They had 2 different murder mystery games to choose from. They were both wrapped up so that they didn't know what they were getting. They would open one and then each member would take a character booklet from the game and read out who they were to the audience. Then they had 6 tarot cards, 1 death card for the murderer and 1 card with a guy with 10 swords in him for the victim and 4 other regular cards. They gave the cards to an audience member to shuffle (Jayden gave me the cards to shuffle for the 10:00 show...I was sooooo happy!!!!) and then they each drew a card and no one knew who the murderer was not even amongst themselves. Rob ended up being the victim for both shows. The first show was called Breaking Point and the second show was Last Train to Paris. The first show took place at a small seaside town with a lighthouse and the second show took place on a train in 1940's war-time. I won't go into details, but they were both brilliant!! The second show was even funnier than the first one (especially Steve's character) and the first show was pretty funny "Death is funny in the city!" Tatiana was the murderer in the first show and Steve was the murderer in the second show. They are such a brilliant team and I'm sad that their season is over, but hopefully they'll do some shows over the summer here in town!
