I finally got a new job(sort of)!! I accepted a part-time position at a smaller branch that's closer to my house. It's only 19 hours a week, but that is getting increased to 31 hours at the beginning of November. Personally, I won't mind the decreased hours for a while. It'll be a nice break. Anything just so I don't have to work downtown anymore! I can't wait!! No more smelly deadbeats coming to cash their welfare cheques anymore!! I won't have to have an air freshener beside my wicket anymore either! Sweet!! I will miss my beloved sidekick Coach Z or The Chort as she's also known. I feel like I'm abandoning her in the cold, dark wilderness or somethng. Gee, with my bad attitude-y ass gone, she just might excel there! But who will complain about the stupid campaigns and unrealistic goals when I leave? I'll just have to corrupt some newbies before I depart...bwahaahaa!
We went to see "Open Water" a couple of weeks ago. I rather enjoyed it, but it is definitely NOT for everyone. If you haven't seen it or are planning to see it soon, READ NO FURTHER because I am going to tell the ending. Firstly, I'd like to say that it scared the hell out of me. It sure didn't help my fear of water at all. I can't imagine what it would be like to be stranded in the middle of the ocean with sharks slowly picking away at you. If the sharks would have just killed them quickly, that would have been more tolerable I think. But instead, the director instills in you the fear of being stalked and eaten alive. I don't think I would have survived as long as the film's couple did. I would have been dead within hours. They made it almost 24 hours before succumbing to the ocean's fury. My husband seems to think that they would have been rescued soon. I beg to differ because they had been drifting for 20 hours and were nowhere near where they were left behind. The search party wasn't looking in the right place. They were way off. The husband was already dead when the search party started to look for them. The wife ends up drowning herself rather than be eaten alive by the sharks that had been stalking them all night and just ate her husband. I would probably do the same thing because after they had eaten him, they would eventually turn to me and being eaten alive has got to be a worse death than drowning. My husband said he would have fought to the end. That's all well and good, but you'll still feel them tearing your limbs off. That's something I could do without experiencing. All in all, I thought it was brilliant not having a happy ending and highly recommend it!
