I finally got bored with how my blog looked, so I changed it.You like?
So hubby and I went to the midnight showing of "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" on Wesnesday night/Thursday morning. I was kind of disappointed that not very many people dressed up. There were only a few nerds who did and entertained us all by having lightsaber duels in the parking lot. Anyway, as for the movie itself, it was fairly well done. It's definitely the best of the prequels and is a lot more violent and scary than the other 5 movies (hence the PG-13 rating). It's quite heartbreaking to see Anakin's descent to the Dark Side and his subsequent transformation into Darth Vader. It's brutal to see all the Jedi die and Yoda fail to defeat the Emperor. There were 2 things that I didn't agree with but I understood why they were done the way they were. First was Obi-Wan defeating General Grievous. From watching the Clone Wars cartoons, General Grievous was pretty unstoppable. Obi-Wan defeated him relatively easily which kind of sucked. The second thing is Padme dying right after giving birth to Luke and Leia. I understand why George Lucas did that, but it totally invalidates what Leia says about her mother in "Return of the Jedi". Aside from those things, it was totally worth waiting 28 years for. I know there were some people out there who don't feel the same way I do, but for me the saga is now complete and I can appreciate it as a whole entity without picking and choosing good parts and bad parts. For those naysayers, I say what do you expect when prequels are made 20 years after the originals? Of course there's going to be technological differences, I mean special effects have come a long way since 1977. If you look beyond the physical, the underlying feeling of the original trilogy is still there in the prequels. I am really looking forward to when Episode III comes out on DVD and I can watch the whole saga back to back in my awesome media room with no negative vibes from small minded fools. I'm still as huge a fan as I was 28 years ago and that'll never change!
