I went to see "King Kong" last night and I was looking forward to it. I'm a King Kong fan from way back (but I still don't see how he could beat Godzilla) and since the critics were loving it, I thought this should be good. Well.....it was more than good! It was the most fantastic movie I have seen this year (not counting Episode III of course)! I never thought I could be swayed to accept a completely CG character, but Kong melted my hardened heart. He is an absolutely amazing piece of work! You would swear he was right there and that Naomi Watts could actually see him because they interact so well. That right there is a credit to her acting ability. My cousin Jeff is the senior software designer for Weta Digital, so he writes the programs that the animators use. He's outdone himself this time. I thought his work on Lord of the Rings was good, but Kong is incredible! His facial expressions alone totally make the movie. The connection between Kong and Ann Darrow is so real that when the end happens, you can't help but be touched. Hell, it was all I could do to keep from sobbing like a little baby. I should have brought more Kleenex.
If you haven't seen it already, you MUST go and see it!! It's the most fantastic thing you will experience at the movies! You will NOT be disappointed!
