Hubby and I finally went to see Spider-Man 3 tonight. It was a'ight. The second one is still better but whatever.
The special effects were spectacular! They really outdid themselves this time. If only they could have used some sort of special effect on Kirsten Dunst's singing voice...(shudder)...awful!
Topher Grace was the hotness! How much do I love him?!! Now he would have made the perfect Spider-Man. Geeky hot with just the right amount of smart-assedness. When he became Venom, he had fangs and that just did it for me. Total loin quiveration!
I've never liked Tobey Maguire and this movie just made it worse. His strutting scene made me want to puke. At least the chicks he was strutting past looked at him like he was a complete loser...that was the only saving grace to that scene.
James Franco was also the hotness. He is just so intense and yummy. I love him in black (quiver!).
Bryce Dallas Howard was a surprise. I wasn't expecting her to be Gwen Stacey-ish at all, but she was. Gwen is a total hottie in the comic and Bryce was never a hottie to me. Having a baby gave her some much needed curves and she looked fantastic! Very pretty.
The costumes for the girls were horrendous. They all looked very dowdy and actually kind of dumpy. Mary Jane was actually wearing white hose. Ugh...nasty!
The script was partially penned by director Sam Raimi and it showed. There are some really funny bits that are reminiscent of his earlier works. The small role by his buddy Bruce Campbell is comic gold and his brother, Ted Raimi, is his usual goofy self as well. Good stuff!
It's very entertaining, but don't analyse it too much. It is based on a comic book after all.
