Hubby and I just got back from the thriving metropolis of Minot, North Dakota today. It was nice to get away and shop at stores that we don't have here. I found the most awesome pair of black skinny jeans at Hot Topic and a new corset top to go with them (together they look totally hot!). I also bought a new dress for the bank gala that I have to go to at the end of September because I'm a "Top Performer" (that sounds kind of pervy doesn't it?) and I am in the running to win a cruise. I actually bought 2 dresses because one was on sale for $12.00! I mean a $70.00 dress for $12.00!?! I'd be stupid not to buy it! They're both blue halter-style dresses with sparkly glitter and are shorter in the front than in the back to show some leg. They're both kind of similar but different. Who the hell cares...I got one for 12 bucks!! We bought some comics and some paperback novels because they're both cheaper there. I got a Star Wars Hallmark ornament there because it was cheaper as well. The box price was $28.00 US or $39.95 CAN. Even with the exchange, it's still cheaper to buy it there. In case anyone wants to know, it's the Imperial AT-AT and Rebel Snowspeeder and it makes sounds! We also went to North Dakota's first winery. It's called Pointe of View Winery and is about 10 minutes west of Minot. They make fruit wines there and have free samples. We tried every wine they make and I had a nice buzz going on when we left. We bought 2 bottles of Apple Wine, 2 bottles of Rhubarb Wine and 2 bottles of Chokecherry Port. It was over the limit of what we could bring back and when we declared it at the border today, the border guy said it was only $5.00 for duty and it wasn't really worth collecting so he let us go without paying it. Sweeet!! We also went to the zoo while we were there and the zoo made me sad. The animals were all in cages not habitats and the cages were small and heart-breaking. Some of them didn't even have any grass...only cement. It was sad. It was like the Moose Jaw Wild Animal Park was when we were kids, but back then we didn't know any better. Nowadays, with places like The Calgary Zoo making huge natural habitats for their animals, it just seems so cruel to see large cats in small cages. Needless to say we didn't spend a lot of time there because it was small and it was breaking my heart. I mostly enjoyed the penguins though. They were so cute the way they followed the leader penguin around. If he got out of the water, they all got out of the water. If he walked around the edge of the pool, they all followed him single file. I'll have to upload the pics and post a couple of them. All in all it was a good trip and I really don't want to work tomorrow!
