Hello kiddies! I'm back from Vegas! Did you miss me? Just kidding! I had a fantastic time! We stayed at New York New York in the Chrysler building. It's a wonderful hotel! The staff is all really friendly which I find extremely rare in the States, the food was fabulous and the scenery was breathtaking! We actually went to see a nudie show, not a skanky one though! We saw Zumanity by Cirque du Soleil. There is nothing like naked Cirque du Soleil let me tell ya! It was very entertaining and somewhat interactive. There are these red loveseats that surround the stage and the people sitting there are fair game for the entertainers. We were in the balcony where we thought we were safe, but before the show started, these humongous twins came around offering strawberries to the audience. These are BIG girls in skimpy outfits reaching across people to give out these strawberries. They are literally smothering people with their chests. While they are giving out strawberries, there is a guy walking around the stage accosting the people on the loveseats. He's taking Polaroids of people kissing, making women take the photo out of his waistband with their teeth and other such embarassing things. Anyway, the one twin comes up to the balcony and starts to hand out strawberries to our section. No word of a lie, she comes to Hubby and me sitting there and she holds out her tray, looks at me and says to Hubby, "She's gorgeous! Look out for him (nods to the stage), he's a freak!" It was sooo embarassing! I'm sure I turned beet red. Besides that, it was a really cool show! Those people are seriously talented! I was never really keen on Cirque du Soleil before, in fact I used to call them Cirque du SoLame, but this show changed my tune. I would really like to see another one of their shows the next time we're in Vegas (not like it's hard...they have 4 different shows on the Strip right now).
We also went to the Excalibur and did the Tournament of Kings dinner show. The last time we went to Vegas, we saw this show and had a blast so we decided to do it again hoping we wouldn't be in the first row again. The view is okay, but would be better from a little higher up. No such luck though, we ended up in the front row of Spain. We were like oh well, whatever! That afternoon we went shopping at the premium outlet mall because there was a bus running directly there from the vet conference. Hubby spent way too much and I bought a leather jacket for cheap. Anyway, the bus was supposed to come every 1/2 hour to pick up conference people. Our show started at 6:00 so we thought we should catch the 4:30 bus in order to get to our room, clean up, get the tickets and get to the show on time. We get to the pick up point at 4:29 and find that the bus was early and left already. So we wait for the 5:00 bus. It comes and leaves late and hits traffic. We figure we're never going to make it from the Mandalay Bay to New York New York in time to catch the show at the Excalibur. So we bribe the bus driver to let us off at the Excalibur. We run our asses off to our hotel, grab the tickets and run back to the Excalibur with 10 minutes to spare. (In case anyone doesn't know Vegas, Mandalay Bay is at the end of the Strip beside The Luxor beside Excalibur beside New York New York and each hotel is literally a mile long). We're sitting there drinking our Pepsi's and Merlin the magician is walking around warming up the crowd. There is a midget in a jester costume trying to get him to come out to the centre of the arena and Merlin is trying to duck him by staying in the crowd. He comes in front of our row, stops in front of me, hold out his hands like he wants me to take them and says, "May I sit with you fair maiden for you are so beautiful?" (I am not making this shit up!) He turns to Hubby and says "You're outta here Jack!" It was so embarassing considering I looked like complete crap due to the fact that I had just been running for pretty much a half hour straight. Other than that, I couldn't eat much of the meal cuz they sprinkled everything with parmesan cheese. I ate the soup and picked apart the whole chicken, but couldn't touch the potatos, veggies or bread. The show was good. The King of France was a hottie. The King of Spain who we were supposed to be cheering for, was kind of a goof, but we cheered for him nonetheless.
We also did the Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton. We did it about 7 years ago and they had added a new Borg 4-D movie ride so we did those. They were okay I guess. We had taken the trolley bus from our hotel to the Hilton because it's at the other end of the Strip and walking is not an option because it's several kilometres away and the trolley is $2.00 a ride. The trolley is supposed to come by every hotel every 15 minutes because they have a crapload of these things running at once and when we were done at the Hilton, we were going to go to the Fashion Show Mall on the Strip to shop. We waited and waited and waited for the trolley and it never came. We waited an hour and nothing so we decided to catch a cab. The line up for cabs was about 100 people deep so we decided to take the new Monorail. We had avoided it so far cuz it's pretty pricey. They want $5.00 a ride, but we had no other choice so we bought Monorail tickets. As we're waiting for the Monorail to show, what do we see? None other than the frickin' trolley bus! Not only one passes by, but two!! We were pretty pissed!
Last night we decide to get room service and chill in the hotel room cuz we have to be up at 5:00 am to check out and go to the airport. Before we go up to the room, we stop at Gonzalez Y Gonzalez the Mexican restaurant and bar in New York New York and get yard long Margaritas in a souvenier yard. Usually when you get these things they are pretty watered down, but these were the strongest drinks we've ever had! I swear the guy used a whole 26 between the 2 drinks. We were pretty wasted and I couldn't even finish my drink because I was getting nauseous. I'm pretty sure we were both still drunk when we got up at 5 this morning.
I should get to bed though cuz I gotta work tomorrow (what was I thinking)! Ciao!!
