I just finally watched the movie "Equilibrium" starring Christian Bale and Taye Diggs. It was made in 2002 and never released in theatres (here anyway). A lot of people compare it to "The Matrix", but they are completely different. Maybe some of the action sequences are similar, but I didn't find it very Matrix-like. It's about a future where emotions are outlawed because they contribute to a war-like society. With everyone drugged up and emotionless, there is no war and everyone is "happy". The government's top enforcer stops taking his drug and starts to feel. Action and intrigue ensue.
The action sequences were well choreographed and the actors were very good. And anytime we get to see Christian Bale shirtless is fine by me! If you are looking for something different to rent, give it a whirl...you won't be disappointed!
