We went to see "Sin City" last night and it's the first time in a long time where it was actually a pleasant theatre-going experience. No mobiles rang, no one talked, no one got up in front of me a million times. It was great! The movie itself was brilliant!! There is definitely something to be said for following a graphic novel panel for panel. It was unique and visually stunning. It was also very very graphic. Surprisingly, it didn't get any flack from the ratings board because the extreme violence is stylized. When someone's limbs are torn off, for example, the blood is white against the darker backdrop. If it would have been in color like a normal movie, there would have been a big problem avoiding an NC-17 rating. There was a lot of white blood in this movie! There were essentially 3 different stories that all sort of tied in together. Very "Pulp Fiction"-esque that way. Lots of names in this one too, such as Bruce Willis, Clive Owen (who looked really hot by the way), Benicio Del Toro, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, and Elijah Wood(ahh Kevin you sick bastard) just to name a few. They all put in excellent performances and some of them are in some extreme makeup which always makes it a little harder to emote. If you don't ever get queasy at the movies, I highly recommend this one!
